Stretching has many benefits. It improves circulation, posture, flexibility and range of motion. It’s great for stress relief and promotes better balance and co-ordination. Stretching even helps with weight loss, and makes aerobic exercise more beneficial. When I have a tension headache, stretching has almost always helped.
Some things to remember: Do not bounce. It causes tears. Warm up first. When muscles are cold you can pull them. Be sure all of your stretching is pain free. Stretch both sides and hold each stretch for 15 – 20 seconds. Breath deeply as you stretch to get maximum benefits from it. Most of all enjoy your stretches and how they make you feel.

An extra tip: Smile. You can affect the way you feel by just putting a smile on your face. Laughter is even better. It opens up blood vessels, which allows the blood to circulate more freely – great for a healthy heart.
